Ferries and Passenger Vessels
BMT has been extensively involved with the recent upgrades to six of the major vessels in the BC Ferries fleet. These upgrades included the removal of all passenger and crew accommodations, refitting to latest comfort and fire protection standards. Also, modern technology life-saving systems were installed and significant mechanical modifications were undertaken. BMT is also involved with the overseas procurement of large new builds for BC Ferries.
BMT designed a sectional floating platform which is now in service in Singapore. This platform can be used for a variety of sporting or public events and can be easily reconfigured whilst afloat, employing a patented flotation joining system.
One of BMT’s strengths is its ability to provide unique solutions to demanding requirements, one of which is ice capability. For example, the Tulpar combines high payload, shallow draft, and exceptional ice capability. BMT has also recently developed a range of novel concepts to meet the needs of emergency intervention in ice-covered waters.
