BMT WBM’s Denver Office Celebrates 30 Years
BMT WBM, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, a leading international engineering and risk management consultancy, celebrates 30 years of success at its Denver office this year. For owners of large mining machinery, such as draglines, rope shovels and longwalls, BMT WBM provides specialised products and independent maintenance and machine upgrade advice for improving production, reducing costs and extending asset life.
In the 1970’s, BMT WBM developed the dragline Roller Load Test which enabled the condition of the crucial roller circle to be diagnosed and its service life to be predicted. This paved the way for the company to expand its presence in the North American region back in 1982.
David Proud, Business Development Manager for BMT WBM’s Machinery group comments: “Over the last 30 years we have built a strong reputation within the mining industry as a company that provides specialised products and expert engineering services to help our customers identify and overcome the most complex of machine operational and maintenance challenges.”
Based on its dragline test and measurement experience, BMT WBM introduced the first commercially available boom monitoring system in 2001. That product has been continually improved over the years and it is now a combined production and machine health monitoring system. In the US marketplace BMT has sold more than 50 units of this type, more than any other vendor. A similar product for rope shovels was also developed. The breadth and depth of its expertise allows the company to be recognised as the source of knowledge for some of the largest mining companies in the world.
David Proud continues: “With the continuing development of larger and more complex mining machines, there is a growing need for BMT WBM’s services in new machine acquisition and in overcoming a range of problems in those units newly commissioned.
Having offices in Australia, the US and Canada allows our highly qualified engineers to share valuable knowledge on the challenges customers face whether it is early structural fatigue cracking or early gearing or bearing failures.”
BMT WBM’s Vancouver office is also celebrating its 15th year of operation. The organisation will be exhibiting at this year’s MINExpo in Las Vegas which runs from the 24th to the 26th September.
