Structural Inspection and Quality Assurance
BMT's visual weld inspection services are offered for new construction, repairs and/or modifications to a range of Codes and Standards, including:
• CSA W178 Certified Visual Weld Inspection to CSA W59, W178, Z248, Z662, and ASME B31.1 and B31.3
Harmonized with visual inspection, BMT also provides Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) services for projects requiring visual inspection and/or Non-destructive Evaluation (NDE) services. QA is provided utilizing a client, contractor, and sub-contractor interface. This may include, but is not limited to, inspection specification development and support as well as welding procedure review, development and qualification for design and repair of new or in-service structures and components. In-process inspection (IPI) is recommended as a QC means of ensuring fewer problems that could lead to delays prior to the start of any contract or production process. IPI requires involvement before the production stage to review mill certificates for materials, filler metal certifications, welding procedures and conformance of the procedures to the base materials and filler metals, welder qualifications, and condition of welding equipment, and also for inspection of the as-received condition of materials. Using rugged PC tablets, inspection reports can be generated on site resulting in a quick turnaround for high quality reports.
The QA/QC team at BMT consists of CWB-certified welding technologists and inspectors, CGSB-certified NDE Inspectors, and certified welding, mechanical, and civil engineers backed by a range of numerical, mechanical testing, and R&D facilities.
